Age Range: 4 Years
We rescued “Tio” when she was a stray kitten around 5-6 weeks old and have had her since. She was a feisty kitten who grew up to be a shy and gentle cat while keeping her kitten-like face and meows.
The reason why we are making the difficult decision to re-home her is that she is unfortunately being picked on by our resident cat. Our resident cat is about 1 year older than Tio and although initially avoided her kitten energy, has now taken to hunting and chasing Tio around every day, trying to pick a fight. We first thought they were just playing around and chasing each other, but it has always been one-sided. Our poor Tio is always on alert, looking over her shoulder, and can only truly relax in certain spots around our home. We tried to add another male cat into the mix to see if it would change the dynamics, but now he is starting to chase her as well.
Tio is incredibly sweet and on the shy side, so she can be skittish at times. However once you gain her trust, she is very affectionate and the warmest lap cat. All she wants to do is nap on you or right beside you on the couch. She will also run to the bathroom to nudge your leg for pets when you are getting ready for the day. Even though it breaks our hearts to give her up, we know that she will find a better home environment than ours. We hope that she will find a family to be the only cat or to be with an older, mellow cat. She tends to avoid children and dogs. Even with everything that has been going on, she has never swiped at or tried to bite any of us or the other cats.
